About this role
Varda seeks a Systems Engineer II to lead the design, integration, and testing of avionics systems for the Winnebago spacecraft, managing the full lifecycle from concept through launch and operations. The role combines electrical architecture development, fault analysis, verification planning, and ground infrastructure design while collaborating across engineering teams to ensure mission success in space manufacturing and hypersonic reentry.
What you'll do
- Define avionics project scopes and requirements with cross-functional teams, guiding designs from concept through production
- Develop electrical architecture, system diagrams, power budgets, and mass predictions to align with vehicle objectives
- Analyze system architecture for faults and risks, creating mitigation strategies and FDIR solutions for reliable operations
- Execute comprehensive verification and testing plans for flight and HITL hardware to ensure launch readiness
- Design, build, and operate Hardware-In-The-Loop testbeds to simulate spacecraft systems on the ground
- Support mission operations as an avionics specialist, monitoring system health and recommending corrective actions
