About this role
Flock is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join its Device OS Team, focusing on kernel development and system stability for mission-critical aviation hardware. You'll work on low-level driver development, Linux kernel customization, and device bring-up across the firmware stack.
What you'll do
- Develop and optimize Linux kernel drivers for communication interfaces (SPI/I2C/UART) and subsystems
- Debug and stabilize embedded Linux systems running on Flock's drone hardware and supporting infrastructure
- Collaborate with electrical engineers and QA teams to align hardware and software behavior
- Perform bootloader development, customization, and early hardware bring-up activities
- Deploy and validate operating system builds directly to physical devices in production environments
- Optimize kernel performance for power management, memory, and interrupt handling

- Embedded Linux (Yocto, BuildRoot)
- C and C++ programming
- Linux kernel internals and driver development
- Bootloader customization and bring-up
- Device debugging and CI/CD pipeline management
- SPI/I2C/UART protocol experience
- Qualcomm chipset bring-up (preferred)
- TCP/IP and D-Bus networking protocols (preferred)
