Platform Engineer

About this role

Heron seeks a Platform Engineer to build reliable, scalable infrastructure for a document automation platform processing millions of sensitive financial documents. You'll own backend systems, developer tooling, and architectural decisions while working directly with leadership on a small, high-impact engineering team.

What you'll do

• Develop and maintain backend infrastructure for reliability and scalability across millions of document transactions
• Build internal tools, abstractions, and platform primitives to accelerate product engineering velocity
• Own features on either Product Platform (workflow orchestration, entity management) or Platform Infra (CI/CD, security, resilience)
• Debug and resolve production issues end-to-end, from support tickets to fixes under load
• Contribute to architectural decisions shaping the backend as volume grows
• Ship code within first week and iterate rapidly on platform backlog items
