ATE Mechanical Engineer (Contractor)
About this role
Lunar Energy seeks an experienced ATE Mechanical Engineer to design and develop mechanical systems for innovative home energy products. You'll lead the full product lifecycle from concept through manufacturing, collaborating with cross-functional teams while balancing performance, manufacturability, and sustainability goals.
What you'll do
- Design high-performance mechanical parts and assemblies using 3D modeling software and advanced analysis techniques
- Develop test fixtures, jigs, and manufacturing processes; create detailed drawings, specifications, and bills of materials
- Conduct tolerance analysis, FEA, and failure mode analysis to optimize designs for reliability and cost
- Collaborate with suppliers on prototyping, design reviews, and production approval processes
- Support onsite manufacturing builds at domestic and international contract facilities (10-20% travel)
- Generate manufacturing documentation, work instructions, and preventive maintenance procedures

- FEA, tolerance analysis, and statics/load path analysis
- Test fixture and PCBA bed-of-nails design

- Supplier communication and Design for Manufacturing
- Mechanical troubleshooting and strain gauge measurement
