Software Engineer 3, Voyage Control Plane

About this role

MongoDB seeks a Software Engineer 3 to build the management and orchestration layer for AI embedding and reranking models within MongoDB Atlas. You'll design secure, multi-tenant control plane systems that handle identity, governance, and billing while ensuring seamless integration with the Atlas ecosystem.

What you'll do

• Design and develop Atlas Administration APIs and Terraform providers for AI resource lifecycle management
• Build customer-facing observability features including real-time performance metrics and usage tracking
• Implement governance systems with audit trails and customer alerts for AI model usage
• Develop and maintain billing pipelines translating inference events into accurate invoices
• Create and scale internal Ops dashboards for support, sales, and engineering teams
• Collaborate with Voyage Inference Platform engineers, ML researchers, and Atlas teams on seamless experiences

• Distributed backend systems (2+ years)
• Typescript, Go, Java, or Python
• Cloud-native architectures and multi-tenant service design
• Docker and Kubernetes
• Cross-functional collaboration with ML and platform teams
• OpenAPI/Swagger, gRPC, or Python FastAPI (nice to have)
• Control plane backend development
• Focus on availability and consistency
