About this role
MongoDB seeks a Technical Services Engineer to provide expert support for complex database problems across the MongoDB ecosystem, including Atlas and Cloud Manager. This remote role (1st shift, 7 AM–4 PM EST, east coast based) transitions to weekend shifts after 6–9 months with a 20% salary increase and requires US citizenship for FedRAMP compliance.
What you'll do
- Resolve complex customer issues related to MongoDB architecture, performance, recovery, and security
- Advise customers on best practices for running MongoDB at scale and analyzing problems across application and infrastructure layers
- Advocate for customer needs with product management and development teams
- Contribute to internal support tool development for diagnostics and performance benchmarking
- Mentor and ramp new team members while building expertise in new product lines
- Participate in occasional coverage outside normal hours for regional events and holidays
What they're looking for
- Linux systems engineering and performance tuning
- Networking concepts and protocols (DNS, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS)
- Storage engineering (NAS, SAN, SSD, caching, multi-pathing)
- Code reading and scripting in Java, Python, Ruby, C/C++, C#, JavaScript, Go, or similar languages
- Database troubleshooting and production system maintenance
- Problem-solving under pressure and rapid technical learning
- MongoDB expertise (preferred)
- Cloud services experience (AWS, Azure, GCP preferred)
