Mechanical Design Engineer - Core Mechanical Design
About this role
Oklo seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to design core assemblies for advanced reactors, managing the full lifecycle from concept through final design. You'll collaborate with fuel fabrication and analysis teams to create manufacturable, well-documented components while applying rigorous mechanical and design principles.
What you'll do
- Design core assemblies and components meeting performance and manufacturing requirements
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and bills of materials using PDM/PLM systems
- Develop design documentation including specifications, design basis documents, and calculations
- Conduct manufacturability reviews, tolerance studies, and DFM/DFA assessments
- Participate in design reviews and coordinate with thermal, structural, and fatigue analysis teams
- Collaborate with fuel fabrication team to refine designs for manufacturability and inspectability
