Capacity Systems Software Engineer
About this role
OpenAI seeks a Capacity Systems Software Engineer to build internal platforms and data systems that unify compute infrastructure planning, forecasting, and operations across the organization's rapidly growing global footprint. You'll design software that connects infrastructure delivery, fleet health, capacity allocation, and financial planning into a shared system of record, replacing fragmented workflows with scalable automation and decision-support tools.
What you'll do
- Design and build backend services, APIs, and data platforms that serve as the system of record for capacity planning and operations
- Develop workflow automation and decision-support tools that help leaders understand tradeoffs across capacity, utilization, cost, and business impact
- Create applications connecting infrastructure delivery, fleet health, capacity utilization, product demand, and financial planning into unified operational views
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Planning, Operations, Finance, Product, Supply Chain) to translate workflows into scalable software systems
- Drive architecture decisions for planning platforms, operational tooling, and internal infrastructure systems
- Improve data quality, observability, and visibility across Industrial Compute programs
