Data Center Infrastructure Electrical Engineer

About this role

OpenAI seeks a senior electrical engineer to design and optimize power systems for high-density, liquid-cooled AI data centers. You'll lead electrical architecture decisions across design, validation, construction, and operations while partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, scalable infrastructure.

What you'll do

• Design and optimize electrical topologies, equipment strategies, and distribution architectures for cost, efficiency, and reliability
• Develop basis-of-design documents, single-line diagrams, specifications, and power system studies including load flow and protection coordination
• Evaluate AC/DC power distribution options, rectifier architectures, and rack power delivery systems for high-density compute
• Lead vendor and equipment evaluations, review submittals, and oversee FAT/SAT and integrated systems testing
• Partner with mechanical, cooling, controls, and operations teams to support liquid-cooled GPU deployments
• Analyze operational incidents, power quality events, and failures to improve designs and reliability models
