About this role

Staff Software Engineer role leading the technical strategy and architecture for agent productivity at OpenAI. You'll design secure, scalable foundations for agents to access context and tools across Slack and enterprise systems, establishing governance patterns and developer platforms that span identity, permissions, and operations.

What you'll do

  • Own technical strategy and architecture enabling teams to build, connect, and deploy agents securely using Slack as primary surface
  • Design permission-aware services giving agents safe access to context, tools, and actions across Slack, internal systems, and enterprise applications
  • Establish scalable patterns for connectivity, context retrieval, authorization, and action execution across diverse systems
  • Develop reusable SDKs, connectors, templates, and deployment patterns that improve developer productivity and reduce integration effort
  • Build policy-aware automation for agent lifecycle management including ownership, permissions, approvals, and credential rotation
  • Implement governance and observability to enforce least privilege, protect boundaries, and provide visibility into agent behavior and data access
