Parallel Systems

Embedded Software Engineer, Perception (All Levels)

Los Angeles, CAFrom $212kmidAdded today

About this role

Parallel Systems is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer to develop low-level firmware and drivers for the perception sensing stack on autonomous battery-electric rail vehicles. You'll optimize camera and lidar data pipelines running on Linux, ARM, and NVIDIA Jetson platforms, focusing on real-time performance and hardware integration.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain drivers and kernel modules for ARM and NVIDIA Jetson compute platforms in embedded Linux environments
  • Write low-level systems software in Rust and C/C++ for sensor drivers and perception-critical components from board bring-up to production
  • Build and optimize high-throughput sensor drivers for cameras, lidars, and IMUs with focus on capture pipelines and buffer management
  • Drive real-time performance optimization including timesync, latency reduction, frame drop elimination, and deterministic multi-sensor operation
  • Test and validate sensor configurations across firmware and hardware revisions under varying conditions
  • Profile and optimize GPU and kernel performance on NVIDIA platforms using CUDA and TensorRT to meet real-time constraints

What they're looking for

  • Embedded Linux kernel development and driver programming
  • C/C++ and Rust systems programming
  • ARM and NVIDIA Jetson/Tegra platform experience
  • Real-time systems optimization and performance profiling
  • Camera and lidar sensor integration and protocol knowledge
  • CUDA and GPU optimization
  • Hardware bring-up and board-level debugging
  • Multi-threaded systems and deterministic timing
