Software Engineer, API Multicloud

About this role

OpenAI seeks a backend engineer to extend its API platform across cloud environments like AWS. You'll build cloud-native services, SDKs, and infrastructure that enable developers to use OpenAI capabilities securely within their existing cloud deployments, collaborating across internal teams and external partners.

What you'll do

• Design and build backend systems that port OpenAI's API platform to cloud-native environments
• Create cloud-contained products enabling customers to use OpenAI capabilities while maintaining data locality
• Develop infrastructure and runtime abstractions for stateful, agentic platform workloads
• Partner with cloud providers and internal teams to translate emerging capabilities into production systems
• Enhance reliability, scalability, observability, and operational maturity of services
• Help shape technical direction as the team scales from early stage to larger organization
