Software Engineer, Infrastructure Security
About this role
OpenAI is hiring a Security Software Engineer to design and build foundational security services protecting the company's GPU supercomputing clusters, multi-cloud infrastructure, and AI model environments. You'll architect production-grade systems like authentication platforms, access brokers, and key management infrastructure while partnering with infrastructure teams to embed security into high-performance compute at scale.
What you'll do
- Design and implement production security services including authentication systems, access brokers, secure proxies, and key management platforms
- Embed security into high-performance GPU clusters and infrastructure while enabling rapid model training and deployment
- Develop automation and detection tools to identify and mitigate risks across large-scale cloud and on-premises environments
- Drive high-impact security initiatives such as line-speed encryption, machine identity, and network isolation
- Lead design reviews and threat modeling to ensure new systems launch with strong security foundations
- Partner with infrastructure and research engineers to balance security with performance requirements
