Software Engineer, Missions Software
About this role
Planet is seeking a Software Engineer to build and maintain Mission Control, a web-based satellite operations platform, and its supporting microservices that automate fleet management. You'll design APIs, deploy infrastructure, and collaborate across teams to enable seamless spacecraft operations for Planet's imaging satellite constellation.
What you'll do
- Design and implement HTTP APIs for satellite operations and automation services
- Evaluate and select appropriate software technologies for mission-critical systems
- Design and deploy infrastructure supporting satellite fleet operations
- Maintain automated systems responsible for satellite scheduling, tasking, and telemetry processing
- Collaborate with Ground Operations, Satellite, Pipeline, and Product teams to meet mission requirements
- Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and continuous integration/deployment workflows
