Software Engineer - Platform, Mission Systems
About this role
Join Planet's mission systems team to build and maintain the cloud-based infrastructure and microservices that power the company's satellite constellation operations. You'll develop automation tools, manage critical infrastructure, and collaborate with spacecraft operators and cross-functional teams to enable seamless satellite fleet management.
What you'll do
- Maintain and enhance automation services responsible for satellite operations
- Manage cloud-based infrastructure on AWS/GCP to support internal and customer-facing SLAs
- Design, deploy, and operate critical infrastructure systems
- Evaluate and select appropriate software technologies for mission-critical systems
- Collaborate with satellite operations, ground operations, and product teams
- Ensure code quality through testing, code review, and documentation
