About this role

Ramp seeks a backend engineer to build critical systems for managing credit lifecycles, including underwriting, limit management, and automated decision-making. You'll own technical infrastructure handling $100+ billion in annual payment volume while partnering with risk, data, and product teams.

What you'll do

  • Design scalable, stateful systems for automated credit limit management across Ramp's charge card portfolio
  • Build agentic workflows and tools to automate manual credit decisions and improve operational efficiency
  • Develop high-volume, low-latency risk controls supporting expansion into new products and customer segments
  • Create real-time decisioning systems spanning the full credit lifecycle for businesses
  • Partner with analysts, data scientists, and product teams to translate risk strategies into production software
  • Maintain systems with strict auditability, observability, and correctness guarantees

What they're looking for

  • Backend engineering (2+ years)
  • Python or comparable backend language
  • Distributed systems and async frameworks
  • Data modeling and technical specification writing
  • Systems design with high reliability and auditability requirements
  • AI/LLM application development (nice to have)
  • Feature stores, rule engines, and ML platforms
  • Defensive programming practices
