Electrical Engineer
About this role
Root Access, a NYC-based hardware startup, seeks an Electrical Engineer to design electronic circuits and PCBs from concept through production. You'll develop analog, digital, and mixed-signal designs while collaborating with a world-class team led by a patent-holding CTO, working on frontier electronics in the AI era.
What you'll do
- Design analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits from requirements and specifications
- Create schematics, select components, and manage PCB layouts including BOM and footprints
- Perform circuit simulation and analysis (SPICE) for power, signal integrity, timing, and thermal effects
- Bring up and debug prototypes using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and lab equipment
- Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, verification, and test teams throughout development
- Support DFM efforts, cost reduction, and compliance activities (EMC/EMI, regulatory)

- Analog and digital circuit design
- PCB design and schematic capture (Altium, Cadence, KiCad)
- Power electronics and high-speed design
- SPICE simulation and circuit analysis
- Hardware debugging and lab instrumentation
- Communication protocols (I²C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet)
- Design documentation and technical writing
- Python or scripting for automation (preferred)
