About this role

Saronic Technologies seeks a Mechanical Build Engineer to design, integrate, and commission propulsion systems for autonomous surface vessels. You'll oversee main engine installation, shaft alignment, fuel and cooling systems at the shipyard while collaborating remotely with Austin-based engineering teams on cutting-edge maritime autonomy solutions.

What you'll do

  • Design and integrate main propulsion systems, fuel systems, seawater cooling, and generator sets including engines, transmissions, shafting, and propellers
  • Lead hands-on oversight of engine installation, shaft alignment using laser equipment, and propulsion system commissioning at shipyard
  • Resolve non-conformances and technical issues through root cause analysis, Issue Review Boards, and Engineering Change Orders
  • Perform CAD modeling, system analysis, and maintain as-built documentation and drawings throughout construction
  • Conduct functional testing including engine run-ups, genset load tests, fuel system pressure verification, and alignment checks
  • Support integration of autonomous navigation and control systems into vessel designs and participate in design reviews
