About this role
SK Hynix is seeking an NVMe Validation Engineer to lead security validation for enterprise SSD firmware, ensuring compliance with industry standards like Secure Boot, TCG OPAL, and SPDM Firmware Attestation. You'll design automated test frameworks, debug complex security failures, and drive quality assurance across FPGA and ASIC platforms from design through production.
What you'll do
- Lead end-to-end security validation for NVMe SSD firmware across Secure Boot, TCG OPAL, SPDM Firmware Attestation, Caliptra 2.1, and OCP NVMe Security Requirements
- Design and maintain automated test frameworks for security features on FPGA and ASIC platforms with CI/CD integration
- Debug and root-cause complex security failures across firmware, hardware, and protocol layers
- Define test strategies and quality gates to ensure secure-by-design firmware validation, not just functional correctness
- Monitor and implement evolving industry security standards and TCG Storage Spec requirements
- Collaborate cross-functionally with firmware, hardware, and security teams to translate specifications into testable requirements
What they're looking for
- NVMe SSD security validation (5+ years)
- Security protocols: Secure Boot, TCG OPAL, SPDM, Caliptra 2.1, OCP requirements
- Automated test framework development (Python, Java, Bash, C)
- Low-level debugging (JTAG, logic analyzers, firmware logs)
- NVMe protocol, PCIe, and storage security standards
- FPGA and ASIC firmware validation
- CI/CD integration and test automation
- Formal security certification processes (FIPS 140-3, Common Criteria preferred)
