Mechanical Engineer (Data Center MEP Systems)
About this role
SpaceX seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design and commission cooling and fluid systems for data center infrastructure at Starbase, TX. You'll handle MEP system design, from chilled water plants to advanced liquid cooling technologies, while supporting commissioning and troubleshooting of mission-critical facilities.
What you'll do
- Design mechanical cooling systems including chilled water plants, CRAH/CRAC units, air handling units, and cooling towers
- Develop plumbing system designs for domestic water, sanitary, storm drainage, and process piping
- Specify facility liquid cooling infrastructure such as direct-to-chip and immersion cooling systems
- Perform heat load calculations, airflow modeling, and pump sizing for chilled and condenser water loops
- Coordinate mechanical and plumbing drawings with architectural, electrical, structural, and fire protection teams
- Support commissioning activities including functional testing, integrated systems testing, and vendor coordination
