About this role

SpaceX seeks a Propulsion Engineer to own Raptor engine chamber and nozzle hardware from production through flight reuse. This hands-on role involves collaborating with designers, analysts, and manufacturing teams to optimize performance, reliability, and cost while managing testing, anomalies, and block upgrades at the cutting edge of rocket propulsion.

What you'll do

  • Own technical accountability for Raptor chamber, nozzle, and related subassemblies across production, testing, and flight phases
  • Partner with manufacturing engineers and technicians to develop production processes and resolve manufacturing challenges
  • Monitor hot fire testing and stage/flight operations with Texas teams; conduct inspections and data reviews
  • Lead anomaly investigations, manage risk mitigation tickets, and coordinate closure with supporting teams pre-flight
  • Develop and review designs and analysis; own new block upgrade releases targeting mass, cost, and performance gains
  • Execute system-level hardware trades collaborating across the propulsion department and cross-functional teams

  • Thermal and structural analysis of complex mechanical systems
  • Manufacturing methods (machining, welding, brazing, additive manufacturing)
  • CAD software (NX preferred) and GD&T drafting

  • Cross-functional team collaboration and communication
  • Hands-on fabrication, assembly, and testing experience
