About this role
SpaceX seeks a software engineer to develop and deploy systems managing Starlink's 10,000+ satellite constellation in low-Earth orbit. You'll build fault detection and automation software for both on-orbit hardware and ground control systems, operate the constellation in real-time, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure reliable global internet service.
What you'll do
- Develop and rapidly deploy software for satellites and ground systems that automate fault detection, response, and operational workflows
- Build ground software systems to manage vehicle state, streamline commanding, support deorbits, and enable real-time anomaly analysis
- Create operational processes and automation strategies for new hardware versions and evolving performance targets
- Detect and triage satellite anomalies on rotating on-call schedule and command orbital assets in real-time
- Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, electrical, guidance/navigation/control, and network engineers on high-reliability solutions
- Identify emerging issues and develop simple solutions to complex constellation management problems
