About this role
Twilio is seeking a Backend Software Engineer (L2) to join the Segment CDP engineering team and design scalable APIs that process over 12 trillion API calls annually. You'll collaborate across product, design, and engineering to build high-performance data systems while balancing feature velocity, stability, and technical debt.
What you'll do
- Design and build scalable backend systems and APIs for Segment's data platform
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams on solution architecture
- Communicate technical trade-offs clearly and drive architectural decisions for long-term sustainability
- Troubleshoot system reliability issues and improve operational tooling and processes
- Participate in on-call rotation for managed services
- Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize data models
