Varda Space Industries
Space Ground Systems Software Engineer
About this role
Varda seeks a Space Ground Systems Software Engineer to develop critical ground segment software for spacecraft operations, including telemetry services, mission control interfaces, simulation tools, and deployment infrastructure. You'll work across the full stack—from flight software integration to operator-facing dashboards—enabling reliable space vehicle operations across lab, test, and on-orbit environments.
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain high-reliability telemetry ingestion, scaling, distribution, and commanding services with deterministic real-time behavior
- Build operator-grade mission control dashboards and interfaces optimized for integration, testing, and on-orbit operations
- Create simulation frameworks and automated test tools for flight software, device emulators, and scenario-based validation
- Design and productionize mission platform infrastructure including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and self-service tooling
- Implement deployment patterns with safe rollout/rollback strategies across lab, test range, and air-gapped mission networks
- Collaborate with avionics, GNC, and operations teams to enable fast, safe iteration cycles
What they're looking for
- Python development with strong language fundamentals
- Real-time data acquisition and low-latency messaging systems
- Spacecraft or safety-critical software development
- Systems design: concurrency, networking, performance, reliability
- CI/CD pipeline and infrastructure-as-code implementation
- Mission control software and operator interface design
- Hardware-in-the-loop and simulation framework development
- Deployment automation and rollback strategies
