About this role

Varda seeks a Mission Software Engineer II to develop and maintain critical ground segment software for spacecraft operations, including telemetry systems, mission control interfaces, and deployment infrastructure. You'll work across flight software, avionics, and RF systems to enable reliable operations from lab testing through on-orbit missions.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain high-reliability ground segment services for telemetry ingestion, scaling, distribution, and commanding
  • Design operator-grade mission control dashboards and UIs optimized for integration, test, and on-orbit phases
  • Build simulation tools and test automation frameworks for flight software, device emulators, and scenario-based testing
  • Design and productionize mission platform infrastructure including CI/CD pipelines, artifact management, and observability tooling
  • Implement robust deployment patterns and strategies for lab, test range, and mission operations environments
  • Standardize service templates, infrastructure-as-code, and hardware-in-the-loop frameworks as self-service tooling

What they're looking for

  • Python development and language fundamentals
  • Spacecraft or safety-critical software development
  • Real-time systems and deterministic behavior design
  • CI/CD pipeline and infrastructure-as-code
