About this role
Vast seeks a Reliability Engineer in Long Beach to develop and validate reliability analyses for next-generation commercial space stations. You'll perform fault tree analysis, FMEA, and reliability predictions while supporting human-rated spaceflight systems that enable continuous human presence in orbit.
What you'll do
- Conduct system-level reliability analyses including fault tree analysis, reliability block diagrams, and FMEA/FMECA
- Perform reliability predictions using electronics and other established methodologies
- Support engineering teams with trade studies and design decisions
- Build and maintain spaceflight component reliability databases
- Identify critical components affecting safety and mission success
- Lead root cause analysis, failure investigations, and risk characterization efforts

- Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA/FMECA)
- Reliability prediction methodologies and electronics reliability modeling
- Spacecraft, launch vehicle, and launch site reliability assessment
- Weibull analysis, probabilistic risk analysis, and reliability growth modeling
- FRACAS (Failure Reporting and Corrective Action Systems)
- Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and circuit diagrams
- Communication of technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Cross-functional collaboration and constructive feedback on safety concerns
