About this role

Join xAI's High Power Engineering team to design, build, and operate electrical infrastructure for AI training campuses. As an Ops/Build Engineer in Transmission & Distribution, you'll manage high-voltage asset commissioning, energization, testing, and ongoing reliability at the Memphis campus, working hands-on with a small team to scale power systems on aggressive timelines.

What you'll do

  • Manage high- and medium-voltage asset deployment from construction through operational load-carrying and reliability ownership
  • Lead substation and transmission energization including pre-checks, phasing verification, synchronization, and staged load ramps
  • Direct NETA acceptance testing on breakers, transformers, GIS, instrument transformers, arresters, and cable systems
  • Execute relay testing, transfer trip verification, and SCADA/telemetry checkout with site and utility teams
  • Coordinate utility outages and switching; develop and own clearance and switching procedures
  • Maintain transformer oil program, breaker maintenance, battery/charger systems, SF6 monitoring, and fault analysis post-energization
