Shop Floor Application Engineer (IT/OT)
About this role
ALTEN Technology USA seeks a Shop Floor Application Engineer to bridge IT and OT environments at a manufacturing facility in Kinston, NC. You'll design and maintain secure, integrated manufacturing systems—from PLCs and SCADA to enterprise applications—while ensuring plant reliability, cybersecurity compliance, and digital transformation success.
What you'll do
- Design and implement IT/OT connectivity and integration solutions linking manufacturing systems to ERP, MES, SCADA, and analytics platforms
- Manage industrial networks, switches, firewalls, wireless systems, and troubleshoot connectivity issues
- Support OT infrastructure including servers, virtual environments, industrial PCs, and ensure high system availability
- Implement and maintain OT cybersecurity controls, conduct vulnerability assessments, and drive remediation activities
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams on technical troubleshooting and system optimization
- Participate in plant shutdowns, upgrades, commissioning, and digitalization projects; maintain documentation and asset inventories
