About this role

Anduril Industries seeks Mechanical Engineers to design and develop spacecraft and space systems for the Space Special Programs team. You'll manage the complete design lifecycle—from requirements and 3D CAD modeling through fabrication, testing, and integration—of flight hardware, deployment mechanisms, structures, and ground support equipment in a rapid, high-rate manufacturing environment.

What you'll do

  • Design spacecraft components and subsystems including structures, deployment mechanisms, pressure vessels, and boxes using 3D CAD and rigorous analysis
  • Perform structural, thermal, and dynamic modeling and analysis to meet tight tolerances and qualification requirements
  • Supervise fabrication, assembly, and integration of spacecraft and associated ground support equipment (MGSE)
  • Design, build, and test manufacturing and assembly tooling for high-rate production environments
  • Conduct and oversee qualification and acceptance testing campaigns including vibration, shock, thermal vacuum, and thermal testing
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on requirements definition, prototype development, and design verification activities

What they're looking for

  • 3D CAD and mechanical design tools
  • Structural analysis and finite element modeling (FEA)
  • Thermal and dynamic analysis
  • Materials selection and design for manufacturability
  • Spacecraft design standards and space-flight hardware protocols
  • Hands-on prototyping and testing experience
  • Requirements derivation and systems engineering
  • Vibration and shock analysis
