Hunter Douglas seeks a Product Engineer I to design and develop innovative mechanical components for window coverings and architectural products. You'll partner with cross-functional teams to advance products from concept through production while optimizing for quality, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.

What you'll do

  • Design and improve mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks CAD software
  • Conduct root cause analysis, investigate quality issues, and implement corrective actions
  • Perform design reviews, DFMEA assessments, tolerance stack-up analysis, and verification testing
  • Prototype and validate designs using rapid prototyping and 3D printing techniques
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Manufacturing, Operations, and Project Management teams
  • Identify and execute cost reduction opportunities through design and material optimization

  • Mechanical engineering principles (statics, dynamics, mechanisms, component design)
  • Plastic injection molding and engineered plastics design
  • DFMEA, tolerance analysis, and statistical data analysis

  • Metrology equipment operation (calipers, gauges, vision systems)
  • Project management and cross-functional collaboration
  • Manufacturing process knowledge and prototyping
