About this role
Hunter Douglas seeks a Product Engineer I to design and develop innovative mechanical components for window coverings and architectural products. You'll partner with cross-functional teams to advance products from concept through production while optimizing for quality, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
What you'll do
- Design and improve mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks CAD software
- Conduct root cause analysis, investigate quality issues, and implement corrective actions
- Perform design reviews, DFMEA assessments, tolerance stack-up analysis, and verification testing
- Prototype and validate designs using rapid prototyping and 3D printing techniques
- Collaborate with Product Management, Manufacturing, Operations, and Project Management teams
- Identify and execute cost reduction opportunities through design and material optimization

- SolidWorks or 3D CAD software proficiency
- Mechanical engineering principles (statics, dynamics, mechanisms, component design)
- Plastic injection molding and engineered plastics design
- DFMEA, tolerance analysis, and statistical data analysis
- Root cause analysis and problem-solving with data-driven tools
- Metrology equipment operation (calipers, gauges, vision systems)
- Project management and cross-functional collaboration
- Manufacturing process knowledge and prototyping
