About this role
Stratolaunch seeks a Data Systems Engineer to design, integrate, and maintain avionics systems for hypersonic aircraft testbeds. The role focuses on flight test data processing, software tool development, and collaboration across engineering teams to support operationally realistic testing at Mach 5+.
What you'll do
- Manage flight test data in multiple formats within centralized databases and develop new data ingestion methods
- Troubleshoot data quality issues and identify root causes to prevent recurrence
- Develop and maintain software tools for configuration management, simulation, deployment, and analysis
- Define, document, and manage subsystem requirements for new aircraft configurations
- Support instrumentation, network, and telemetry testing including sensor calibration and equipment checkout
- Prepare data system documentation for design reviews, flight readiness reviews, and post-operation reviews

- Telemetry, instrumentation, and network engineering in regulated test environments
- Ethernet networking (TCP, UDP, multicasting) and ARINC 429 protocols
- Data acquisition systems and datalogger integration
- Programming in C/C++ or Python with Windows/Linux scripting
- Source control (git) and continuous integration tools (Jenkins, Bamboo)
- System requirements documentation and definition
- Relational, document, and time-series databases
- MS Office suite and technical communication
