About this role

Relativity Space seeks a Weld Engineer II to develop and optimize fusion welding processes for the Terran R rocket, working across design, manufacturing, and quality teams. You'll own welding accountability for critical stage hardware while providing manufacturing support and driving process improvements in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

What you'll do

  • Develop and optimize fusion welding processes (GTAW, GMAW, OTW, laser) for Terran R components in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing teams, troubleshoot welding issues, and implement rapid solutions for production challenges
  • Own weld engineering accountability for stage hardware including transfer tubes, fluid assemblies, grid fins, bellows, and heat shields
  • Ensure quality control, documentation, and compliance with AWS, ASME, and other industry specifications
  • Implement corrective actions and drive continuous improvements to maintain high-quality welding outputs
  • Partner with materials, design, and quality teams to balance performance, reliability, cost, and schedule
