About this role
SimpliSafe is seeking a Software Engineer II to design and maintain cloud-based backend systems that enable customers to control their home security systems remotely. You'll work on a distributed systems team focused on reliability, performance, and scalability while serving in an on-call rotation.
What you'll do
- Design and develop scalable, reliable cloud-based backend software solutions
- Write and maintain comprehensive tests to ensure code quality and safe refactoring
- Perform long-term maintenance including performance optimization, bug fixes, and feature additions
- Document systems and architecture for maintainability by future developers
- Participate in on-call rotation as first responder for team-owned software
- Collaborate with team members on code reviews and architectural decisions
