About this role
SpaceX seeks a Data Center Safety Engineer to establish comprehensive safety controls across its AI infrastructure and supercomputing facilities in Memphis. This role ensures high-density critical infrastructure meets reliability and safety standards while supporting rapid expansion of compute capacity.
What you'll do
- Oversee electrical safety programs including arc-flash analysis, LOTO, and safe work practices on power distribution equipment
- Conduct risk assessments and structured analyses (FMEA, HAZOP) on power systems, cooling, fire/smoke, and energy storage
- Ensure proper grounding, bonding, and power quality monitoring to prevent equipment damage and personnel injury
- Validate failover procedures and establish safe operating limits for critical systems like generators, chillers, and liquid cooling
- Develop and drill emergency response plans for power loss, cooling failure, fire, and water events
- Ensure compliance with NFPA, OSHA, IEC, building/fire codes, and Uptime Institute guidelines
