SpaceX
Electric Engineer, Energy Infrastructure & Generation
About this role
SpaceX seeks an Electrical Engineer to design, build, and maintain power generation infrastructure at its Bastrop, TX facility, including generators, solar arrays, and hybrid systems supporting high-demand manufacturing operations. The role combines hands-on equipment management with strategic facility power planning and innovation in sustainable energy solutions.
What you'll do
- Lead engineering and construction of temporary and permanent power generation plants (gas/diesel generators, turbines, solar, hybrid systems)
- Oversee build and commissioning of generation infrastructure, coordinating with construction teams for safe integration with site power distribution
- Develop and implement maintenance programs with predictive scheduling and performance monitoring for power systems
- Perform power system analyses including load forecasting, energy modeling, and optimization for cost efficiency
- Collaborate with utility providers on grid interconnections and design resilient on-site generation to minimize downtime
- Conduct troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on generation equipment while ensuring regulatory compliance
What they're looking for
- Power generation design and construction
- Electrical design software (AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, SKM PowerTools)
- Generator, transformer, switchgear, and protective relaying knowledge
- Utility grid interconnection and demand management
- Hybrid power systems and microgrid design
- Energy storage and renewable integration (solar, battery systems)
- Project management and commissioning oversight
