SpaceX

Fluid Systems Engineer, Solar Cell Factory (Starlink)

Bastrop, TXmidAdded today

About this role

SpaceX seeks a Fluids Systems Engineer to design and optimize gas, chemical, and exhaust systems for high-efficiency solar cell manufacturing at the Bastrop facility. You'll manage complete project lifecycles from requirements through commissioning, ensuring safe handling of hazardous materials while supporting Starlink's power generation needs.

What you'll do

  • Design and build fluid distribution systems for gases, chemicals, and exhaust in solar cell fabrication processes
  • Develop P&IDs, perform equipment sizing, thermal analysis, and structural assessment for system components
  • Conduct safety assessments (FMEAs, HAZOPs) and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ASME, NFPA, and SEMI standards
  • Collaborate with process engineers to optimize delivery rates, purity, and fluid recovery for high-yield production
  • Design data acquisition and control systems for facility monitoring and process integration
  • Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of fluid systems in manufacturing operations

What they're looking for

  • Fluid systems design and P&ID development
  • Hazardous material handling and safety protocols (pyrophoric materials, toxic gases)
  • CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and fluid dynamics simulation (ANSYS Fluent, Pipe-Flo)
  • ASME B31.3 and SEMI S2/S8 standards knowledge
  • Semiconductor or photovoltaic manufacturing experience
  • Process safety management and risk assessment
  • Cleanroom HVAC and gas cabinet system design
  • Project management and cross-functional collaboration
