About this role
SpaceX seeks a Supplier Development Engineer to manage manufacturing and quality for rocket components and assemblies supporting the Starship program. This role combines technical manufacturing expertise with supplier management to enable production at scale while maintaining premium quality and aggressive timelines.
What you'll do
- Serve as technical point of contact for assigned rocket parts, solving manufacturing and quality challenges at suppliers to mitigate production risk
- Own new product introduction including manufacturing method selection, supplier identification, and process ramp-to-rate
- Conduct design-for-manufacturing reviews to ensure manufacturability early in the design phase
- Vet and partner with procurement to identify suppliers capable of meeting quality and aggressive production schedules
- Create specifications and quality requirements to flow down to the supply base; resolve defects through root cause analysis
- Lead containment activities and coordinate re-work, repair, or disposition decisions with engineering counterparts
