About this role
Verkada's Alarms team is hiring a Backend Engineer to design and scale AI-driven systems that detect, verify, and respond to real-world security threats in real time. You'll build low-latency, high-availability services that orchestrate intrusion detection, video monitoring, and emergency dispatch workflows across Verkada's cloud and hardware platforms.
What you'll do
- Design and build low-latency, high-availability backend services for alarm detection and response orchestration
- Develop flexible, extensible AI-powered workflows for intrusion and video monitoring use cases
- Build distributed systems integrating internal products and third-party services like notifications and dispatch
- Collaborate with product, design, frontend, and firmware teams on end-to-end customer experiences
- Work on systems that power real-time threat identification, customer notifications, and emergency response

- Backend engineering (1-3 years production experience)
